Hi all!

I am in the process of setting up my new 4 foor tank, and I am looking for insperation of how the tank should be set out. Could anyone point me towards any good designs and ideas that they have seen? I really am keen to find a good way to make caves out of rocks etc, whilst trying to be different!

Thanks!

Chris

That is a nice looking tank! But I am thinking of taking things a little further..

The fish that I want to keep in the tank will be what I have at the moment :-

6x Neon tetra (Paracheirodon innesi)
2x Dwarf otocinclus (Otocinclus affinis)
3x Harlequin (Trigonostigma heteromorpha) (Will add a few more of these later)
5x Black Widow tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi)
4x Neon Rainbow (Melanotaenia praecox)
3x Red Line Torpedo barb (Puntius denisonii)

Basically the story goes that they are currently in a 126l tank (as I had to rescue the Redlines from someone leaving University). So as I know that these guys are going to out grow the tank I have bought a second tank which is about 350l and I intend to link the two tanks together using a water bridge design, as shown below:

Now I know that my neons really like the small caves that they have got at the moment, so I know that I need to build lots of caves in the new tank. There is also an abundence of slabs of safe rock around to make caves with. I was looking more for ideas of layout of the tank.

Most people put big plants at the back, and little plants at the front. I was thinking about an idea of putting 3 steps in accros the tank from left to right - so that the right hand side was 2-3cm deeper that the left and having the big dense plants on one side, and little plants on the other.

However I am really looking for inspiration!!

Heya :)

I found an article on aquascaping the other day, i haven't read it all because it's long and complicated I didn't have time :p , but some of the things it was saying sounded kinda in line with what you just said. Here's the link:
