I just upgraded for now to an 10 gallon tank until next year when I get a 20 ro 30...I had 2 angels but 1 got sick and died...and the one that lived lived by herself for a several months...I just went and bought some new fish ---> 1 more small angel (the other one is like 1 year) , 3 Rasboras, and 3 neon tetras. I have released them and the angel is fine with the other one...but the original angel is chasing the little fish sometimes. Will she keep this up?

Angels have no business being in a 10 gallon long term. Unless it is a quar/ hospital tank situatuion, once they get to 1" body diameter they need a tank with more height. A 1 year old angel in a 10 gallon is undoubtedly stunted. Minimum tank size for an adult angel is a 20 high, as angels are tall fish.

Neons are the natural food of angels in the wild. Angels, being cichlids, establish territories in any tank once they start to reach maturity. The chasing will continue, perhaps some torn up, dead fish.

Invest a few bucks in a 20 tall and you could keep the angels. Adult angels have no business being in a 10 gallon. Bring back the neons, more than likely they will get eaten if you don't.

Just to let yall know, the chasing has stopped...one Rasbora was eaten, but only because it was pretty small and was irregularly shaped. The angels will DEFINITELY be moved within the next year to a 20 Tall aquarium and so hopefully every one should be fine. I floated a plastic plant at the top of the tank so the Rasboras could hide...one of them loves it.

i have a little advise for u, once the angel fish become about the size of a grown man's palm, they might get aggresive. i feel bad for the crippled fish

You will find more "irregularly shaped fish" before too long. An aggressive angel will tear the crap out of an angel considerably larger than itself. Smaller fish don't stand a snowball's chance. I've had it happen more than a few times, get a larger tank next weekend, not next year.

http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2 may be at a show or have a delivery scheduled near you. They have the cheapest prices on new gear.

I get new 20 highs for $24, used for $12. Too bad you don't live closer, I'd trade you a 20 for your 10, just for the fishes' sake.

My dad says hes got a bigger tank we will move them in within a year...and so far no more eatings!!! I will be much more careful when the people at the fish store get a few fish out...don't want that to happen again! I am thinking about giving back the rasboras...the angels are kinda scaring them...

While everyone considers whether the angel is big enough to eat the neons, nobody considers the stress it puts on the neons when kept with a natural predetor, regardless of size difference. Stress is a very negative thing in a tank and leads to disease. This mix, regardless of whether some aquarists think it's 'working' is not recommended except in very large and heavily planted aquariums.

Realistically there is nothing wrong with growing them out in a 10 gallon, as long as you go through with the promise of a bigger tank, but to keep neons or small rasbora varieties in there too is not a good idea if you consider the the well being of the fish is important.

That's another reason to bring back the neons. A 10 gallon isn't big enough to have "feeder neons" with a natural predator.

A standard 10 gallon is 12" tall. A healthy 1 year old veil angel will hit 12" if you include the fins. If the 1 angel is "like 1 year" and you plan on keeping that fish in there until next year when you get another tank, how the hell is it going to reach a normal, healthy adult size?

The neons are better off than the angels, at least their death will be compairitivly swift.

How about taking back the angels? that would solve your problems unless you can get a larger tank for them in the coming weeks.
