I have been using advanced aquatics reef salt since day one in my tank but there is only one shop online that sells this and it is getting harder to aquire. Is it possible to change the type of salt i use in my tank to another make or will this cause problems?
If it is possible which salt is recommended for a reef aquarium 150 gallons?

I think the secret for changing the salt you use is to take it slowly and don't change too much at once. Regular small water changes with the new salt should do the job.
As for the type of salt, a lot of it is down to personal preference, budget and as you have found, availability.

I use Tropic Marin and if you live in the UK there is is a seller on ebay that does a very good price of £53.90 for a 25kg bucket inc delivery. Delivery is very quick as well. Check out item number 200260809084 if you are interested. I have no affiliation with this seller, I just buy his gear!

If there is a chance of the different salt disrupting anything i don't really want to do it, i have a elegance coral that is absolutely massive and must be worth alot of money not to mention time spent growing it, so dont want to harm it, Saying this though when you buy a new fish/coral chances are that it has not been kept in the same salt mix, so really i dont know what ther hell i'm going on about my mind had gone blank

I have never heard of any problems with changing salt. Almost every time I have bought salt I end up with a different brand. The constituents of the salt are so similar for the most part as to make very little difference.

I suppose if you did a 100% water change with a different brand of salt there could be issues, but other than that...
