Looking for some advice…

I’m picking up a Rio 180 tank on Sunday and the only place in my office it will fit is the back left corner. I don’t want the internal filter on the right hand side as this will be the side most on show.

My question is can it be moved to the opposite corner on the left side? I can’t just swap the heater and pump around as the compartments are different sizes so only way to do it would be to turn it 90 degrees and have the long side across the back rather than the side. Would this still work and be efficient with the intake slits facing different directions?

The drawing shows what I mean

Any help would be much appreciated

Juwel internal filters are siliconed into the back right corner, so two sides are against the walls, and the other two sides have intake slits in them.
As long as the filter is attached in the back left corner rotated so that the two blank sides are still against the wall with the intake slits still exposed to the water I don't think there should be a problem. It should be possible to angle the outflow so the water doesn't flow straight into the front left corner.

The trickiest part will be removing the filter and getting all the silicone off the glass. I did this by sawing through the upper blobs on one side with an old kitchen knife, then pulling the casing way and sawing through the bottom blobs. Then repeated for the second side. I used a Stanley knife blade held a shallow angle to scrape the silicone off the tank walls.

Be careful not to damage the corner sealant.

a single sided razorblade is what we used to cut and remove silicon on tanks. You can buy them in boxes or small packets of 5, from chemists and some supermarkets.

I used a Stanley knife blade as I had some in the house ;)

Hi! We're currently facing exactly the same issue and we'd like to move the filter to the left side of the tank. Could you please tell how did it go with your filter/tank once you moved it? Is everything working as it should? I'd be very grateful if you'd find time for writing a short update.
