Hi Everyone,

I am writing this thinking i might be asking a really stupid question but i want to check before i do anything.

I have two 190 litre fluval aquariums that have the piping installed for fluval external filters. One of my tanks i have running a 305 and one running a 205. I seem to have some flow problems with the tank that has the 205 on so i was thinking of swapping them around.

However, the one with the 205 is a fully planted community tank which is ph 7.2 and its pretty heavily stocked compared to the other one which has no plants with malawi cichlids and ph 8.0.

Would it be okay to simply swap these filters over or will that make them have to cycle again?

Cheers,

Scott

Just swap them straight over. There is a slight difference in pH between the tanks but it isn't that extreme. I would expect the bacteria in each filter to be fine adjusting to a slightly lower/higher pH.
It might be a good idea to feed sparingly for a few days after swapping the filters over, to give a small time for the bacteria in the filters to adjust to the new pH. Apart from that you should have no issues.
