I am thinking of buying some chain loaches for a 70 litre tank. Would this size tank be big enough?
I have cherry barbs and a few ottos in there already.
Are these loaches entertaining to watch? as I heard they are little charaters.

I had a group of 3 clown loach in a 70 litre for 4 months then had to get rid of them as they were getting quiet large!
So no, i wouldnt say that a 70l is ok for them
If you look on the web and stuff, people have them getting over 8 inches and stuff.
They are slow growers so it would take a couple of years for this to happen.
By all means you could grow them up in the 70l then upgrade them when they need it.
Thye are very entertaining to watch, my group swam round in cirles and the way they huddle together in the tightest of spaces is funny to watch :)

Sorry i thought you said CLOWN loach!
Real sorry!

Chain loaches would be great in a 70l! i'd go for a group of 5 or more. I have noticed if they are in less, they bother the other fish in the tank, which is real annoying!
They are fairly acitve all day, more at night IMO but they are entertaining to watch!

What about a group of corys? What would be the main difference in loaches and corys?

Y. sidthimunki (dwarf chain loach) should be fine in a 70L tank. You should get at least 4-5 of each. The more you have, the more interesting they'll be.

Differences between loaches and cories:
Cories are from South America, loaches are from Asia (mostly SE)
Cories are wider bodied.
Loaches can be more spastic.
Loaches will eat most any any invertebrate, cories won't hurt most large shrimps or snails.
Loaches make clicking sounds when eating (and some other times).
Cories can/will breed in captivity.
