What would be a good size tank for a Chaca chaca? I'm thinking of setting up a new tank and this is one of the fish I thought of putting in there.

If you keep a Chaca chaca it should be the only fish you keep in there, they either eat tankmates or are unable to compete with them for food.

You can keep a single Chaca in a 18x12x12" tank with a couple of inches of sand and a flat rock, they are one of the few species of fish that actually benefit from less room as it makes it easier for them to feed as they wait for the food to come to them and do not actively hunt.

The research I've done also told me that they do need that flat rock. Exactly what purpose does it serve?

EDIT: Oh, and would an AC 20 suffice for filtration in an 18x12x13?

no use to you in US but three lovely Chaca Chaca in Pier aqquatics in Wigan yesterday. Only £13 each as well at 5 inches or so each

CFC is your one still only eating live food ?

Yep it still wont even look at anything that isnt alive, even wiggling food on a stick doesnt provoke a response.

It sure is, over two weeks the pH in the Chaca tank drops from 7.6 to around 6.4 unless i do a water change before.
