most tanks hav a couple of fish that stand out like angels, dicus, silver dollars and clown loaches. now i hav wanted angels and discus in my tank for ages, but apparently they won't go with my other occupants. so i was wondering whether you could suggest some

50g planted tank
1 kssing gourami
6 golden barbs
5 neons
5 cardinals
4 chain loaches
1 leopard plec
2 otos
4 corys

don't say anything about the gourami, he i hav hear it all before. and if things don't work out he will be moved

i'm not sure, but surely if things work out with the gourami, he'll be a pretty good centre piece?

if not, you could get another kind of gourami :)

You could add a second kissing gourami which would add to you current one to make a good display pair.

i tried adding another kisser but he turned out to be really aggressive and bullied my current one because he was so timmid so i took the aggressive one back, my kssing gourami is about 1 and half inches and hasn't grown since a brought him three months ago.

What about a shoal of rainbow fish? They come in a great variety of sizes and colours and make a stunning display (must stick to just a shoal of one species), plus they are not territorial but able to look after themselves or get out of the way quickly.

CFC I wanted some rainbow fish and was told by the lfs (i know, i know) that they would pester the neons I have....true or not?

Ryan, I would try another gourami as a center piece fish.

I have 5 dwarf neon rainbow fish in a community tank with 8 glowlight tetras and there has never been a problem between them or any of the other fish for that matter, rainbows are probably not suitable tankmates for peaceful fish like angelfish or discus as they are very active but i would recomend them for any community tank of a decent size.

Hi ryan :)

If you would consider a school of fish instead of just a single, perhaps glass catfish would serve that purpose for you. Here's a link:

When I had them, they picked a spot among the plants and stayed there most of the time. Whenever I looked, I'd see their little faces looking out at me. They are beautiful shimmering little fish and when they eat you can see their stomachs turn the color of the food. They are unique.

I second CFC with the rainbows. I have eight (4 Bosemani, 2 red and 2 yellow) they all get on great and shoal together.

At feeding time its awsome as they all swim frantically about trying to get all the food. :hyper:

I would also recommend the neon rainbows which have a really striking blue body with red tinged fins. 8)

I don't have any problems with them and my two neons. :D
