caves

Do you mean the bricks with holes in them already? I'd say they are too small for the fish to swim through when they are adult but maybe. Just get some slate and make a cave from that, it's much more attractive in the light. Clean it all very well first. (If you can't find any slate I'd go to the nearest church and look around the ground for tiles that have fallen off. Broken not useable ones would work great)

hi yea i was talking about the the bricks with the wholes in them but i think i will go with the slates because i no wer i can get loads from

how should i clean the slates before puting them into my tank??

thanx

Just pour boiling water over them and let it sit in there for a couple of days. Put new water in there once or twice a day.

Or you could just rinse them off under water and use them, thats what I do ;) ... But most people recommend the first thing

thanx Erised

i think i would prob just do the one u said u do and just rinse them off

Hi jmaster :)

Slate works very well when it is set on top of 3 rocks. It forms a cave that can easily be taken apart to clean the gravel underneath it. It's what I use too.

When you are cleaning anything you find outside, remember that aside from the surface dirt, there is likely to be bacteria and chemical pollution on it. I like to scrub the surface with a toothbrush and then boil them for 20 minutes or so. I think this will kill any organisms living on it.

Chemicals are another matter entirely. I never use anything I find near the side of a road or from any area that seems risky. When I boil them, I watch the surface of the water for any sign of oily residue forming at the top and discard any rocks that produce this.

So far I haven't had any problems. :D

I Use the bricks with the holes for my queen arabesques and they always spawn in the middle hole  I stuck two together to give the depth..they love it.
