There is no need to stick them together with anything, this will only make it more difficult to remove and re-arrange them. Pile them up so that they are a stable structure, with a bit of experimenting it isn't very hard. Remember to lay the rocks on the bottom of the aquarium, not on top of the substrate, otherwise the fish will dig under them and cause a disasterous collapse.

hey i just setup my 45 gallon with malawis and i used some conch shells and also purchased some red and gray slate and laid them all over in different configs for about 8 bucks my fish have about thirty caves. still trying to post a picture but im not to good with my camera yet
