'I have got mum a kitten!'

The fateful quote that started this all. Said kitten was a wild feral farm kitten born and raised in an outdoor barn.

Said kitten is hiding in the house somewhere after running away in the first ten minutes of her relocation.

Suggestions please my fishy comrades?

(other than parentacide)

What are you wanting suggestions on? How to socialize your new cat?
The best thing to do is leave out plenty of food and water and wait for her to come out of hiding. Don't force her out because that will shatter any chance of her trusting you.

With a lot of patience and slow body movements, this little cat will be very playful and sweet.

I have a black ferral cat that lives at my house. He appeared out of nowhere 3 years ago and I started slowly working with him. I would leave him food, lay out in the yard and let him build courage and trust with me, and most importantly, I let him touch me first. Do NOT touch her first when she is comfortable being within reaching distance. This could freak her out and it also signals that you want to dominate her, rush things with her, and it builds negativity between the two of you. The best thing to do is let her touch you (be it a poke with her nose, a lick, a rub, etc) first, and when that happens just sit still and see if she does it again. Eventually you can try to pet her, and she will let you know when she is ready to be social. The cat at my house was completely wild 3 years ago, but now he lives on my front porch and allows the entire household to pet him.

This whole process could take 6 months to a year. It depends on how quickly your cat is willing to befriend you. It might sound like a long time, but this builds the best of friendships and it is totally worth every minute of patience.

Good luck!

cool thankyou :)

(did mean advice on how to brain parents ) because i think they are utterly irresponsible bringing home a poor ickle kitten. Will be taking your advice to the letter. We have located her now and she is under the shower tray in the white bathroom. Giving her milk (like on the farm) and some kitten meat.

I will do my best to be patient

not sure about my parents though
