Cat Fish Hiding

Hi all,

Bought a Feather Fin Cat Fish Yesterday and since adding to the tank it just hides. First I thought it might be in shock however after a few hours it did venture out. Today it has just stayed under the Drift Wood. Is this normal ? Should I have bought 2 ? Any ideas ?

That sounds pretty normal to me, a lot of catfish (plecos included) like to hide, especially when small. Once they feel secure, they'll usually come out.

I have two featherfins and for the first 2-3 months we never saw one of them except for his whisker hanging out of the cave where he hid. After 6 months they are still pretty shy but come out much more. My two chase each other and hang around together, but I don't know that having two made them any less shy. And if you are thinking of getting a second, keep in mind they get pretty big (8").
