ive had a look through some of the threads and found bits and bobs of info, but can anyone put it all together for me? as in, how should i care for baby corys?

my sterbai are forever spawning but none of the fry survive past a few weeks. im guessing it was a starvation issue as i always tried the same food (microworm) but none have ever survived. now my female is fit again (after a run in with a crayfish) she has spawned again this morning and i am about to harvest the eggs and put them in there own tank before they are eaten.

so, in the tank is a small (not strong flow) filter and airline. no substrate (should i put a thin layer of sand down?) some floating plants and some large river rocks to hide under.

what temp is best for cory babies?
how many days after hatching should i start feeding? (have decapped brine shrimp eggs to hatch here this time) and how many times per day?
how often should i change water and how much?

erm thats all the questions i can think of for now.

id appriciate any help anyone has to offer!!!!!!!

What a joy, isn't it?

There's a number of things you can feed them, microworm, Hikari First bites, hard boiled egg yolk, infusoria, etc. A varied diet is the best.

Bare bottom is the easiest to keep clean.

This depends on the species. These guys like it warm, low 80's F

Usually 2 days, after the egg sac is absorbed.

Daily. I use an air hose to siphon it into a white bucket, in case I accidentally get a fry, they show up quite well against white. Some use turkey basters (you happy Coryologist?). Your call. Just keep the bottom clean.

Advise? Other than keeping it clean and stable, pray....

mine are never put into a seperate tank for a few weeks i use a food container with airstone placed in the spawned tank because the container is much more managel u can suck fish in into a turkey baster as corydad say put them in another container while u clean the 1 uve just taken them out of then i just wash it in the tank that the container is sitting in i do this around 3 times aday just 2 make sure it is all sptlessly clean as for feeding i use decap brine, microworm and very finely crushed up tetra prima (very very finley crushed) feed anywhere from 2-3 times aday but because container is cleaned so often throughout the day u can slightly over feed just 2 make sure they are getting enough i usually feed within 3-4 days of haching and they always seem 2 eat it.

hope that helps :)

will they eat decap brine eggs that havent been hatched?

i would use banana or microworm for the fry for first foods which should be given when the fry are free swimming (this means when they have used up the yolk sac on their bellies) which is around 5 days after hatching, but can sometimes be sooner. For them to grow fast, daily water changes and feed 3 times a day if possible.

Good advise. You can also use Hikari First bites or crushed flake food or tablets. Keep the tank clean.

Good luck.

feed micro foods lightly and often as advised, crushed flake, bbs etc & water change & wipe down at least daily.

IIRC overfeeding has been indicated as a major problem with cory fry, dont know if it is the potental water quality issues or dry feeds expanding in the gut but better to lightly feed.
