Hi

We are just setting up a tropical tank and want to use sand as the substrate for the benefit of our Bristlenose plec and Kuhli loaches. Has anyone used the sand named in the title? We really want to go for black and this seems to be the only one option I can find. If this is a no o and there are no other options, will gravel be ok? I assume the finer the better? Any advice from loach owners as to something easy for them to burrow in? Many thanks

Hi

I've never heard of that particular sand, but "marine" suggests to me that it will buffer your PH up to about 8 - 8.3. Obviously your inhabitants would have to be suited to that PH if that is the case.

Looks good. It appears to be a man-made sand (not natural). If it says it won't affect PH, i think you will just have to trust that is the case.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on with it.

Andy

The marine thing is misleading I guess. I have used Tahitian Moon Sand and love it. It looks like the same thing just from a different manufacturer.
