in my 2 n 2.5 gallon tanks i just have a heater n thermometer on it, some rock on the bottom, a few fake plants and an apple snail (i don't recommend the snail). i also use bubble buddies in the water when i change it to get rid of the chlorine and a liquid called cycle that has seemed to keep my water clear and bacteria from sprouting up (both i put in before i put the fish in or back in the tank and wait about an hour or two after puttin it in so the fish isn't in it). betta's are pretty easy to take care of if you ask me, feed them, keep the tank clean, give them some live food once in a while for a treat and they're happy.

i keep the 2.5 / 2 gallon tanks at about 79-80. and the 10g with the babies i keep at 82 degrees.
