4 days ago i brought a bn catfish and added it to my tank its about 1.5in long and seems quite attached to its favorite log already.

I brought some algae wafers and i also feed live blood worms once a week. How often should i provide the waffers i added one today and it went untouched. How best to provide courcette, cucumber and other veg without polluting water and it floating around.

I have 6 harlequin tetras as well.

I feed mine every night. They get algae wafers every day and get some sort of fruit or veg every other night. Never leave any food in there for longer than 24hours or it will mess up the water. I use them metal plant weights you can get to weight the food down but alot of people just use spoons or forks pushed through them Or you can get SCREWCUMBERs which you just screw into the food like this

Great that was really helpfull, Should i worry about my bn not eating waffers yet? Maybe its just settling in. It spendin lots of time sucking on the glass. With the fork option how do you make sure it soap free if its been washed up with fairy and then rinsed off and dryed is this ok.

Which veg do i need to cook first and which can be fed raw.

Is it best to feed these fish at night or early evening. Thanks again

I woulnt worry to much. Try putting one right next to where he hides. Have you been leaving them in over night? they are mainly nocturnal so will eat most at night. IME when there young they spend alot more time one the glass but as they get older they hide alot more. my 3 adult bns all have there hiding spots through the day where as the babies come out alot more in the day. I would boil it aswell before you put it in the tank just to make sure theres noting on it.

i feed my BN every other night and alternate between alagae wafers and cucumbers with the cucumber i just stick a 2p into it and it stays on the bottom

my BN did not eat algae wafers for the first few nights but then she started eating them one night and now they dissapear over night even though i put 2 in!

I agree. My baby BN used to feed off the glass and filter a lot when theywere tiny as yours is. I had a mature community tank with thin films of algae over everything including fake plants so there was a lot to feed on. I normally feed my livebearers cucumber or courgette (weighed down with a teaspoon I keep specially for this purpose and just rinse under tap to clean without using soap)and the little BN soon realised this was food. Now they practically live off fresh veg and thelargest has tripled in size to 3in.

Thanks for the great advice, ive been putting in alage wafffers in the morning and they seemed untouched by the next morning. Now i realise they need feeding in the evening so thanks for that.

Today i put a small fork into a slice of courcette and within 20mins i saw my bn feeding on it for quite some time. I think ill give it a few nights of feeding fresh fruit n veg and try again with the waffers when it gets used to feeding time and postiion.

Should i be removing the veg in the moring or after 24h as its quite large slice i put in.
