The stocking plan for my new tank includes a shoal of cardinals. But everytning I read seem to say that they prefer low light, and I've got metal halide lighting so it's going to be BRIGHT!! On the other hand it will be well planted and so there will be lots of hiding places and shade - though I obviously don't want them hiding away all the time. Will they adapt do you think?

In my opinion, tetras light up so much better in sort of "muffeled" light (ie, plants blocking the light), so if you could get enough plants to block the light, it's a win for them and a win for you. :)

There'll be lots of Amazon Swords in there, so hopefully that'll create the right sort of shade for them. Thanks!
