I just ordered 15 cardinal shrimp (sulawesi) because they were out of crystal red shrimp. I want to breed them so does anybody have any advise.

I haven't bred them but can give you some generic advice.

Make sure the filter doesn't suck in the babies. I'm sure I read Sulawesi shrimp have a free swimming freshwater larval stage so a normal power filter would suck them in. I would probably use an air powered sponge filter or cover the inlet with tights/stockings to prevent them being sucked into any other filter.

Also keep a steady temperature. Sulawesi like it warm.

I would recomend getting some moss as it gives somewhere for the microscopic food to grow that the babies eat. The youngest CRS I find in my tank are always on my moss covered coconut shell.

Ok, basic sulawesi shrimp care:

Keep the temp warm, 78F-82F.
High ph. 7.8-8.2. Add some shells or something. Tufa rock is great as well.

Otherwise, they're the same as normal shrimp, if a lot more expensive due to the small amount in the hobby currently.

The sulawesi shrimp do have a larval stage, but it is abbreviated and they do not eat in it.

Where did you order them, if I might ask?

planet inverts.com (no space). There very expensive but cool. I heard cardinal shrimp don't have a larval stage but i guess i'll found out in a few months if im lucky. Would marimo balls work for the moss?
their arriving on friday so i got a week
