hi, i have a few spare internal carbon filter sponges, and i was wondering if you can place them under the gravel to draw in nutrients or i have some vallis planted in a pot with some gravel and root tabs, if i put a small piece of carbon sponge in would it help them to grow etc? what other stuff can i do with them?

not sure about the sponge, i dont think it will react the same way as if you did it with charcoal, because the plant roots penetrate it, the sponge might be too coarse.

how would i go about doing it with charcoal? any old charcoal? crushed? what do i need to do? ty

you just place a layer of it under your substrate, which means you need to take it all out! charcoal carbon usually comes in pellets.

oh i know the stuff. next time i empty my tank i will do that.
