Carbon Sheets

Hi
I have a fluval u4 filter which has two sponge pads and on top of these are carbon pads. As I am always on the look out for a bargain I found a big sheet of carbon used for ponds. I use the pond sponges so I thought I could use the carbon too. Its alot cheaper I just have to cut it to size

Can anyone tell me if this is ok as it is half the price in a big sheet

All I want to know please is can I use a carbon sheet cut to size to replace my Poly/Carbon cartridge in my fluval u4
