Just got my first tank.
I have an internal filter with a blue foam insert.
Should I also buy some active carbon the put in the middle of this filter?
Is cardon nesasery for my tanks health or shouldnt I worry.
What does carbon actualy do to my tank?

Your advice please
thanks

I'm not sure what filter you have so can't comment on that.

Carbon isn't needed. I have some tanks that I didn't use carbon for years. Some I use now, I always use it.

There's no need to use carbon. If you medicate your tank you might want to add carbon after your done medicating to get rid of the leftover meds. You can use it to clear your water if you, for example, add bogwood and it leeches in your tank.

There are good and bad to using activated carbon and I see both points of view.

HERE'S a good in-depth link to read and decide for yourself if you'd like to use it or not.
