Hi when i bought my fluval 3+ it didnt come with a carbon filter, is it highly recommened that i go out and buy one? I know its for chemical filtration but if i use a chlorine remover on my water what other chemicals will the carbon remove? Can i just use charkal/coal in my filter?

You don't have to use carbon at all. Most people prefer using filter floss or pads. Carbon is only necessary after meds or to remove a tint in the water. :)

As already mentioned carbon isn't neccesarry if no meds have been added to the water. I prefer to use it however, as i also add amonia chips to the carbon.
After a few weeks though you have to replace it anyways and it can get costly as it only stay activated for a maximum of 2 to 3 weeks.

Filter floss is a great alternatives and will polish your water perfectly keeping it crystal clear!
