This is probably going to sound daft, but would it be possible to stop the forum from forcing the first letter of each word in the topic title to be capitalised? It drives me mad seeing the second part of Latin names in capitals, and this forces it on me! :shout:

As a biologist its one of my biggest pet hates, the rest of you probably think I'm nuts

I agree BigTom, the one that I always hate to see "Ph".

I too am a stickler for proper typing of fish (or any organism) nomenclature.

Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus "Jos Plateau"

Maybe its possible that some fishkeepers/aquarists are ignorant to the reasons why names are laid out in such a fashion and have never been bothered to take the time to find out.
Regards

I'm not sure what the other settings are, but it was put in place to stop the even more irritating people who can't manage the distance between the letters and the caps lock button.

Although, if you're such a stickler for proper scientific gubbins, it's interesting to note you've strayed into the territory of what annoys me by saying "Latin names". Shudder.

Haha, I knew someone would pick up on that. Can I be excused by saying it was due to aiming my comment at the layperson?

Anyway, glad its not just me!

What you have to remember is that the majority of members probably have no idea what the latin name for their fish are anyway. As long as everyone knows what fish they are talking about i dont see a problem if someone puts say, Betta spenden, B. splenden or Betta Splenden?

This is not what the thread is about.

I kind of think that we should not get rid of it, or we will get topic titles like "OMG HELP MY FISH NOW PLEEEEEEEEASE". Which would just clutter the forum, It really dosen't take that much to bare with 2 or 3 words starting with a capital letter. This thread is just nit picking and is really kind of pointless....
