My eel has ick and it is still alive and eating but it has been this way for 3 weeks now. He is always rubbing up against my other fish which just drives me crazy because i know they could get it. Im not sure what to do, all the experts say that anti-ick stuff will kill him and i can't just keep him in there can i?

How about trying sea salt for fresh water aquariums. I have never kept eels but do know they swim from fresh water streams to the bays and oceans to mate then return to fresh water in the delaware bay and its tributeries. I assume yours to be a tropical variety and do not know if salt will harm him. Salt usually helps with ick (One tablespoon to 5 gallons). 80 F temp.

Ask store you purchase him, and ask about salt.

Yeah but i dun think salt will go well with all the other fish im my 42 gall =(

Remove the eel and treat the other fish in the tank with quickcure. Treat the eel with a saltwater solution. Do a 100% water change daily, with aquarium salt in the water.

Eel needs to be isolated pronto, that should have happened the moment you noticed his ich :(

Good luck catching that eel! :D

I always beleave that Ich was always in the tank and stress made the fish more seseptable.

Have you tested you water??

I always think it better to find the causre before treating, or it just gonna come back.

did you say what sort of el it was??

Anybody know if thats true? That ich is always in the water.
This is true. Since no other fish are suffering from ich,you can only assume that something is causing your eel stress and making his immune system low.

Catching him should be no trouble if he's anything like my eel. Does he hand feed?
If not, you can use a large syphon or a turkey baster with the end cut off and try to lure him into it.
