Ok I read somewhere yesterday about being able to put BBS in some sort of suspended animation thingy yesterday can anyone help me as can't remember where I read it and would like to try as I also dont have enough room to keep two lots of BBS on the go at once!

Thanks in advance for any response

You might have read that in my thread where I commented that keeping them in shallow amounts water has proven more successful for me than keeping them in liters of water. Maybe?

As of lately I've been pouring my leftovers in to a 32 ounce cup then starting a new batch. The cup bbs live a little bit over two days without aeration.

Yeah that was the one! Thanks Wuvmybetta! I knew I'd read it somewhere on here just couldnt remember where! Hatching and catching the bbs for my fry is so time consuming at the moment but it's well worth it! My fry are gutsy little things to say they are only 6days old they eat about 3 bbs at each feed

Hmmm do you think the fry would soon be able to eat baby daphnia as well as bbs?

Most species of daphnia, if kept properly, give live birth. So yes they could eat the younger daphnia. I know of several people who keep daphnia in their grow outs as a constant supply of food. If you can get your hands on some you might as well set up a culture outside or something.

I enjoy hatching BBS, it used to be extremely frustrating but once you get your water chemistry perfect it's a breeze. They amaze me  I've never raised them to adulthood though, I've never tried. If I have the space to do it someday, I just might!

I did have tons of daphnia in the pond the other week as I could catch loads but it seems to have slowed down in breeding I think it's because its got a little bit cooler but I'm sure I'll be able to catch a few and add them to my nursery tank for the fry! I must admit daphnia is pretty easy to culture if you have a small pond which has still water, it's also great for getting bloodworms and mosquito larva in spring and summer too although I recently found some pretty fat bloodwoorms over the wkend which I gave to my bettas but I thought it was way too early for bloodworms esp with it only being Feb oh well won't complain bout that apart from the fact I nearly froze my fingers off trying to get them out of the mud from bottom of pond now that wasnt pleasant!

Let us know if you ever manage to raise the brine shrimp to adulthood that would be pretty interesting!
