ooo this is embarrassing :X i cant get my syphon to syphon. on the one i used to have i would hold it at a certain angle in the water and hold the end of the tube and then i would rotate the syphon upwards and let go of the tube and it would do the sucktain when u lift it upwards. but on my new one it wont work :/ any suggestions why?

Hi lionfish :)

Unless someone repealed the law of gravity, it should work the same as the other one.

Is there any kind of obstruction in the tube? If you pour water in one end does it come out the other? Perhaps there is some kind of switch that has to be opened. -_-

is it a clear tube with a big nozel on one end that u can detach? if so then give it a shake up and down in the tank 4-5 times an see if this helps... i have to do that with mine or it wont work...

hth's

Do you have a "Marina Easy Clean"???
If you do you have to jerk it up and down in the water like the previous post said.
You might look funny but oh well.

Try priming it with some dechlorinated water first. Sometimes a new siphon takes getting used to ;)

ya that's what I have to do sometimes too.........

put the end of the tube in your mouth and suck up till water starts to come up the tube, thats what i was told to do but watch you dont get a mouthfull of poo water it tastes awfull. LOL ...i know.

I prefer the priming method....fill up syphon with water then cover the outlet with your finger. Once you have inserted the nozzle into the tank, you can remove your finger from the outlet.(obviously wont work if the distance from your tank to outlet is too far :D ).....

If it is one of the funny shake to prime ones then you really need to get some good shaking going and make sure all the piping is sloping down and not rising in places. Give it a good ol shake
