Can't get a hood for my tank!

I'm looking for a hood with light fitting for my smallest tank to no avail!
I've had the tank for a few years and it came with a poxy plastic lid thing which is now cracked... now i've set it up again i wanted to light it up.
MyLPS says it's bcos the usual size is 18x12 inch.

Anyone any ideas where i might get one... or how to get round the problem? i.e rig something up... nothing complicated cos i'm rubbish at diy!

well, since its and odd size, you could just go to your local hardware/home improvement store and get a piece of plexi glass or regular glass cut to the size you need (you'll need to cut space for your equipment to poke through though...). then just attach something for a handle. thats what i did for my small 5 gal tank (cheaper than buying the hood).

My friend had the same problem. Luckily the local fish store had some, I will check tomorrow and see if they have one. Have you tried checking ebay?

Funnily enough, Ive had the same problem but I want a new lid for a big tank,a really decent one. Its an old Hagen tank size 122 x 42. Ive also started looking at lighting. Any recommendations? I quite fancy a couple of t5s maybe on a ballast
