I found him on the floor and crusty with bits of cat hair and debri stuck in his gills and eyes--I thought for sure he was dead as I picked him up and his tail was stiff and sticking to the lenolium--But then he twitched! He's in his bowl again, but he can't swim well at all (a piece of it even fell off in the bowl) so my thought is to put him in the aquaview with the filter turned ON so to oxygenate the water--is this an okay idea? I'm worried the undercurrent could hurt him more?

He is by the way, hovering at the surface and gulping air non-stop now. I still wonder if an oxygenating underground filter would be beneficial though.

I would say the less current you can give him, the better - so i'd stay away from any kind of airstone...
Do you have any stresscoat there? Give him a squirt of that if you can.
Just make sure to keep him warm and clean.

One other thing that might be beneficial for him is to get a plant - at this point it doesn't really matter what kind it is - just something for him to be able to lay on up there by the top of the water so he can stick his snout out and get air when he wants to w/out it being too much work for him...

Hang in there Sunbeam!!

...I already put him in the aquaview with some melafix (no stress coat though) and I swiped the plastic plant from "Bluey's" tank (as I don't have a real one at the moment and have to head off for work. If there's a way, I'd like to oxygenate the water without creating too much of a current--Poor little guy's gills are working overtime :/ His front fins are working alright though.

*update* I clamped the air tube so the bubbles are coming at half force...this seems to be working. He still swims to the top to gulp, but I think there is at least some oxygen in the water in case his condition worsens while I'm at work tonight.

That should all be just fine as long as it's not blowing him around.

They make it through some very traumatic experiences so he has a very good chance of pulling through. It's a good thing you found him when you did. :)

Thanks. I'm at work now, but last I saw he was floating at the top to air-gulp and there was the little trickle of bubbles from the airstone. ^-^

I just had a similar experience with my betta Twist jumping out of his tank yesterday... I think I caught him fairly soon after he did it because he was still wet and he did twitch when I picked him up.
I hope your guy is going to be ok :) Twist seems like hes going to be ok too.
