This is my daughter's first tank. She has a 10 gallon tank and purchased 5 "Xray" tetras and 5 black mollies. They seemed to get along for a week or so, but not anymore. 4 of the black mollies and one of the tetras have died in the last two day. Now we are down to one black mollie and all the remaining tetras are missing the majority of their tails.
We thought mollies and tetras got along OK.
Is this normal
Was this bad advice on compatiblity?
Could the problem be underfeeding?
Too little space? These are tiny little fish - less than 1 inch in length.
Tank does have a few fake plants and a little castle feature to provide hiding space.
Temperature is 80 degrees F.
Will our tetras tails regenerate?
Could eating the tails of the tetras have killed the mollies?
Any ideas?
