Hey everyone, needing some questions answered on a canister filter for my 65 gallon tank.

My tank is a hexagon that stands about 18 inches tall. The tank is on a wooden stand that is about 2 feet tall.

Can I buy tubing long enough to reach from the floor and will the filter work just as fine?

Thanks!

You can buy the hoses by the metre from most LFS.
My tank is higher than that and my filter works fine, best to check the filter specs though to make sure it can lift water that high to be sure.

What make/model filter is it?

There are two limits on the working height of a canister. First is the minimum height to give the canister's impeller enough suction to pump properly. The second limit is how much pressure the casing and hose connections can take. Some of the common canisters have 4 to 5 foot limits below the water line to avoid overpressure. The hose length will not prevent a canister from working but can reduce the flow rate through the canister and can, in an extreme case, restrict the inlet so much that the standard minimum height above the impeller for adequate suction is affected. If you stay reasonable, it should work fine for you.
