I am lookin to get a canister filter for my 75gal and was looking around and this Cascade 1200 Canister Filter was only 120 over at pet solutions it does about 350gph but i then went over to Big Als website and a equal size filter was like at least 160(us dollars). is the Cascade a good filter, if not what is

No, the Cascade users on here report a lot of media by-pass, so you can't call them decent

Eheim (non-Ecco modles at least)
Rena
Tetratec (sold under the marineland brand name where you are)

Are all good exturnal filters. AquaOne are supposed to be good also, but I've no 1st hand experience with them. Cascade, cheap Ebay rip-off's and Fluvals are best avoided IMO :good:

All the best

my fluval fx5 is a brilliant, quiet, easily maintained filter i'll have you know!! and my highly stocked tank is crystal clear!!

Assuming the FX5's don't start dropping like flies after 3-4 years in typical Fluval fassion, I may make an exception for them, but the 04 and 05 series have major reliability issues IME :/
