Can You Use A Protien Skimmer On A Tropical Tank?

Hi there!!
Just a quick question, I just bought a Jebo 180 protien skimmer for my 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank, I intend on going marine in 6 - 12 months, but untill then would my tank benifit from using this at all??

Protein skimmers will NOT work on freshwater tanks. They are designed with the premise of high specific gravity found in seawater conditions. If your tank is tropical saltwater, you CAN use a Jebo protein skimmer, but their products are rampant pieces of you know what, so I'd reccomend a different skimmer
