my female guppy has not eaten for about 4 days. she is not bloated and does not have any spots on her body. her back half of her body is bent downwards and she is swimming rather akwardly. she stays at the top of the tank swimming slowly usually near a wall. none of the other fish in my tank are showing any symptoms and seem healthy.

i'd appreciate any diagnosis or treatments. thanks

I have a guess that it might be that she's dying from old age. Bent spine is a symptom of old age I believe.

How long have you had the guppy? How long has she been like this?

thanks tempest.

i have had her for about 6 months. she was fully grown when i got her. guppies live for ~2 years if i'm correct. that's a reasonable explaination. i was just concerned because she stopped eating and her tail was bent down in a matter of a day or two. i would have thought dying from old age would be more gradual.

Yes, it could be fish tb, but probably something more common. Perhaps myxosporidiosis. Usually causes bent spine and lack of swimming control. Most commonly refferred to as "whirling disease".

Either way, use gloves for the time being in case it is TB.
