hello im looking into a 5ft tank with south american cichlids mayb an eel could a shrimp or crab co-exist please help thanks

The short answer is no. Eels and the majority of American cichlids will eat shrimp, and crabs should never be kept with fish, not least because most crab species are mostly terrestrial and only spend short periods in water. Also any fish big enough not to become a crab snack will likely as not make a snack out of a crab, or worry it to death.
