I have been threw 4 periods of my life where I was involved in spawning bettas.
First off, from the start, doing my research, I could NOT imagine trying to spawn these fish WITHOUT a heater, even in a climate controlled dedicated fish room.
Do plenty of research, FIRST! Maybe get off the internet, visit a library or at least of bookseller and find as much info as possible. (disclaimer, my first three betta ventures were well before the internet)
Sometimes the questions asked by a person new to the venture, well... those very questions can often elicit a response "Do your research first", so some one is trying to tell me ... "Too much to explain, go do your own home work"
