Lately my Fancy Guppie has been chasing my Female Micky Mouse fish ALLL over the tank. Can these two types of fish produce offspring? she seems to be getting fatter and has alot more black in side her stomach. I am new at keeping fish like this for breeding (for my aquatic Turtles), so can they have baby's or no? If not i can just go get a male micky and female guppie or two.

here is what my female micky looks like (this is not the actual fish but looks just the same just not as much blue)

Well I was wondering something similiar actually and I found this really good pinned guide on here

Hybrizing Livebearers

according to this they can breed and the fry are called gollies or muppys...
But I don't have any personal experience so I'm going by what I've read there :)

But he is talking about a platy. Even if they do mate there will be problems at birth.
Frustrated male guppies will chase any female. Mine chased mollies and platy but there were never any hybrid fry. If you want baby guppies get a female guppy and you will soon have dozens.
Another thing - Apart from the cruelty aspect (poor guppies) guppies are not a good source of nutrition for turtles which need a proper balanced mixed diet with all necessary vitamins etc. Buy some proper turtle food pellets from a petshop or better still on Ebay from the Turtle Rescue Centre who have developed the perfect dry food specially for turtles to keep them in top condition. I use it myself

ok ty all and i am a member of a turtle forum and they say guppies and rosy red minnows are the best you can do for aquatic turtles. Goldfish are the worst because there fatty and aquatic turtles have trouble with burning fat.

Different chromosome numbers would not necessarily stop possible hybridization, but the offspring, if produced would be undoubtably deformed and sterile.

Yes I know, but it could only happen under lab conditions, where DNA is inserted into a donor egg, and even then the success rate is minimal.
