I know this is stupid of me, but for the life of me I can't remember what breed my catfish is. I have had him for about 3 years now and I used to know, but for some reason my brain has let me down. I do know that when i bought him, i was told he wouldn't grow much more than 5-6 inches in length. Therefore I'm guessing he is fully grown size wise now. He is fairly active and loves to feed from the surface of the water swimming upside down. I know he isn't any kind of upside down fish and I'm sure he isn't a pleco either. Any help will be very appreciated. here's a photo to help. Hopefully someone will be able to identify him for me. He is brown with yellowish and black speckles and has the most amazing blue eyes.

Hes a featherfin syndontis Eupterus

I've had one that was bigger than 5-6 inches. Think he was8 plus inches which is why I'm dreading mine growing in my tank. I bought him for my sons as an upside down cat at a very tiny size but as he's grown I have realised what I have and I'm not a fan of them

I must admit I love him and if he does grow to about8 inches then luckily I have a tank which is still big enough for him. I knowthat when i bought him, i didn't want to go down the Pleco route as i didn't want a 14 inch+ monster in my tank lol. However, if he does grow bigger than 8 inches, so be it as I think he is great. Thanks very much for the info simonas.

no problem

if you want another you can have mine!!lol

Lol, I would but my tank wouldn't stretch that far thanks.

I love my syno featherfin. They like to hide a lot, especially when they are younger, but if you have a larger tank they become more active as I have noticed with mine at least. They are also really hardy fish in my experience. I lost about about everything else in my tank and it took a few weeks worth of treating w/ multiple fin rot medicats as nothing seemed to work, but he is finally coming back & swimming around more than ever. I think you will like him
