My wife picked up this fish about a month ago but we've forgotten the name of the species, could anyone ID it?

just gonna say that! these fish are safe with your guppies, they are a similar species (livebearers)
this one is a male by the way

The fish is a male platy, and possibly a balloon platy.

It's preferable not to buy balloon fishes because they have health issues associated with their body being artificially shortened and their guts getting squished up.
