Can Someone Id My New Plec?

Hi LongS :)

I'm going to move your thread over to the pleco section. Just follow the link. :D

It looks like a bristlenose pleco, doesn't get too big, I think around 5 inches max.

Here's a link http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/42932-bristlenose-catfish/

I googled it and found one image that looks just like yours says its a bristlenose pleco. Other images I found the nose had a lot of bristles. There may be different kinds. Looks like they get 4 to 5 inches. Heres one that I found that looks just like yours.

another if needed

cheers guys i was pretty sure it was a bristle nose when i was buying it. They were all labelled under "assorted plecs" and they all looked different. I did a bit of research on it but just needed a second opinion. Nice to get it a bit cheaper at £2.99 aswell! They are usually labelled up at around £7 :p

hmm looks like a BN to me too ( seems to have whiskers)
but do the sensible thing and dont take my word for it, there will be better advice in the "Real" morning

£2.99? i would get one more if infact they are BN and your tank size allows ( males get aggressive towards each other when big)

yeah i thought about getting two in the shop earlier. Maybe i'll go back in a couple of days when this guy settles in. So far he has shown no sign of aggression, although he has decided to try and become housemates with my Zebra Loach. Zebra was sitting happily in cave then the bristlenose decides to swim in and cling to the cave ceiling.

Everyome seems to be after this cave, even the two smaller golden zebras sneak in there when the big guys out like mischevious little kids for a few seconds then run away.

Is there any real need to keep them in pairs or groups? i was worried about my hillstream loaches algea diet being eaten up by too many big plecs. He won't eat anything else either so the algae diet is pretty critical!

Yep. young bristlenose.

Only males get the big bushy bristles, females may get some smaller traces of bristles but as adults are very obviously different.

For £2.99 get more if you have space!
