Well I found out my mollies need salt and that might be the major factor as to why they have been so unhealthy and dieing.

Currently they are living with 2 Siamese algae eaters and a pleco. I know the pleco doesn't like salt but I'm not sure about the SAE's??

It's looking like I'll have to make up a tank just for my mollies, platies and swordies as they are the fish I have that like salt.

If the SAE's wont tolerate salt is there any type of little cleaner fish that does???

The vast majority of freshwater fish can take minute quantities of salt, but I mean minute. In general, the presence of salt causes the fishes kidney to work harder to maintain it's internal electrolyte balance - the extra work causes it to "burn out" quicker then it would otherwise.

I would always advocate adding NO salt to freshwater tanks.

Mollies can be kept in freshwater, freshwater with a little salt, through brackish and into completely marine setups.

Yeah that's what I thought :/

Well I added in 2 teaspoons of salt. It's a 27 gallon tank..do you think they will be alright for a week or so like that??

Saturday I'm going to pick up a 60 gallon

If you don't think they will be ok..I might be able to move the pleco and SAE's over to my 30 gallon although that will seriously be overstocking it and am worried for the welfare of the fish in that tank.
