Hi i recently moved my chineese algae eaters out of my community tank into what was my hospital tank. Can I put 1 male betta or a few female bettas in there? I just wanna get something cheap for it cause its a bedroom aquarium that doesnt get seen often and something easy to take care of. The tank got a got filter and light but i heard bettas dont like fast water is it ok?

1: is the algae eater sick or is the hospital tank going to be its permanent residence?

2: bettas don't like fast moving water, so you should find a way to reduce the water flow.

3: chinese algae eaters get to 11".

4: CAE like to suck on other fish and they don't always let go. Chances are that it'll attack the betta.

now thats why i moved them cause i read they got aggressive didnt wanna lose any fish in community tank. So what are some suggestions to make this tank lively?

We need to know if the hospital tank the CAE's in right now is still a hospital tank. If it is, then the CAE'll get sick if you put a sick fish in.

To add life, you could add an ADF or ghost shrimp regardless of size (provided it's a small tank). However, if you want more options, you haev to disclose the tank size.

This doesn't make sense to me. You just said that they suck onto fish and don't let go so why would you put other smaller bottom dwellers with it?

They latch onto fish to feed on the body slime. Shrimp don't excrete this slime coating. As for the ADF's... that's a different story. However, I'd expect people who buy ADFs to do research, and upon doing this research they'd know to add hiding places.

I wouldn't put anything in the CAE. As they get bigger, they get meaner. Take it back and get something more peaceful. :D
