i know it is a stupid question.... but i was out today walking along one of the local beaches and i picked up a lot of really really nice rocks i thought would be nice to add to my tank.

the plan was to pressure wash them off and boil them and then add to my tank.....would this be a good idea or should i get rocks from a FW source?

Not sure, but you'd need to make sure all the salt was off them, and boil them for a long time to be able to make sure there isnt salt inside them, and then dry them off for a long time. (not sure if this is 100% correct, but its what i'd do)

thanks...i figured that would be the method i would use....

i was also wondering this... my GF is an Artist who makes a lot of different types of sculptures from clay. would this be safe to use in my tank?....als o i have a lot of plant pots (tericota (sp?) clay pots) aswell around the house

I presume so, as long as its been fired (correct term?), as some people use pottery as hiding places for their fish, so i'm sure it would be fine, but let someone else verify this.

I have 3 in my tank - VERY well boiled- have never noticed any problems. They need to be hard and non-disintegrating obviously.
