The past few days I've become concerned that my African Dwarf Frogs aren't eating. They simply can't find any food on the bottom. I even squirted soft bloodworms into the tank and they can't find it. THe only way that I know they are eating is if they are resting on the surface and I hold a bloodworm RIGHT in front of them. In this case, can I just wait until they are at the surface to feed? This way I don't pollute the water with food and my betta doesn't eat too much.

Can they be trained to come to the surface when they are hungry?

Thanks.

I feed mine with a turkey baster(sp?). As soon as he see's it, he swims to the front of thr aquarium. I squeeze the it so the food sticks out half way and he snatches it right out of the turkey baster.

It's the only way I feed him. Otherwise I would end up overfeeding the whole tank trying to be sure he got some.

:)

EDIT:

btw, are you a Steeler fan or a Raven fan. If your a Steeler fan, thanks for Cordell. What a disaster he was.

I feed mine the Nature's Delica by Tetra Bloodworms. It comes out like toothpaste and if you squeeze it out gently the entire strand will sink to the bottom without breaking. I drop it in the same location every day and I turn their lights on right before I drop it. I feed them once a day. They now congregate in this area of the tank before I even turn the light on and clean it up entirely within about 5 minutes. Who says ADF's can't be trained? :D

Actually, they come to the top of their own accord. i tried it with mine, but it either couldn't see the food or couldn't lunge at it. :dunno: Good luck.

At first my frogs wouldn't come up for food. I fed them using a glass baby food jar turned on it's side. The food I started them on floated (freeze-dried tubifex cubes). After a while they found that when they knock the cube about it came out of the jar and surfaced in the tank. The followed it up and ate it just fine. I think eventually they will come up of their own accord. If they are not finding/not eating what you are feeding, they may not like what you are giving them. Frogs can be picky eaters, just like many fish can.
