Can I keep two pleco’s in the same tank?

Thank you. My clown pleco is really old. I think I got him in 2016, but it might have been 2014. He or she is a very interesting fish. I have no idea how to sex them, so I haven't tried to see if I could find a mate. My daughter tried to talk me out of him last week. Total fail
