can i keep the stuff in my filter alive

bought a fluval 403 with a used aquarium to minimizr cycleling i hoped i could nmaintain the culturas that woukld be i it the tank had been running with fish when i had bought it and he tookit down, how do i keep the stuff alive i've poored water on it to keep it wet well this work cause the tank won't be setup for at least two days

The bacteria need a supply of oxygenated water and ammonia to stay alive. I don't think the bacteria will stay alive that long, in fact sorry to say they may already be goners. I have a Fluval 304, and the instructions say that it should not be un-operated for over 30 minutes or the bacteria will die. Sorry to say....
