Hi,

I should have my tank up and running by next friday once all my stuff arrives from all the ebay shops :)

But I have been offered 10KG of rock for £30 from a 3yr old marine setup but I would have to pick it up this weekend. If I put it in a 50 ltr tank with a powerhead and heater would that be sufficent to keep it alive until I can put it in my main tank once setup next friday???

Please help as I need to let the guy know in 2-3 hours time.

Thank guys

Wooohoo!!!! That's great news we can get it then :kana: Does it matter if the water is new, e.g not from an existing tank, but just standard salted RO?

Nah, not for Live rock. 95% of the life on it is not very picky to how old the water is :)

I have just found out that the Live Rock that I was offered has small soft coral on it. The problem being is that my hood in it's current state only has 2 x 30w tubes, I'm guessing this isn't enough for soft corals, what do you think?

The tank BTW is 50G 210 Ltr if thats any use.

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about the softies. Many softies can survive in low light, just not thrive. If they do die off they just start your cycle for you. For that price I'd consider the softies expendable.

Hey guys, just to let you know we got outbid at the last second on the live rock grrr!!!! :look: Chac - thanks so much for your help, James sent it logged in as me by mistake, that's why it was from brittlestar and not newtomarine in case we confused you!

Collected the tank we won off ebay today, its a Ferplast Cayman 110 Pro, very nice actually, comes with 2 x 30w tubes, one white one actinic. Will be filling it with salted RO tomorrow and getting it up to correct temp, then in the next week or so will add 10kgs LR and some ocean/ lava rock.

Two questions:
Can I just ask which other rock is best out of tufa, lava or ocean, e.g porous wise?
Which tube should be at the front of the tank, the blue actinic or the white?

Thanks guys! Caz

No Lava rock or ocean rock, use tufa rock ;)

Where the tubes are placed (front or back) doesnt REALLY matter. I have my blue in front, but thats just me.
