Are they like bettas in that I should only keep the two together if I'm trying to spawn them? I have a 10g and was wondering. Thanks

My LFS only sells these in male/female pairs so they are supposed to get on with each other.

Having said that my male (in a 100 litre tank) gets very aggressive with the female when he has built a nest. Up to now he has built several nests (I've only had them a few weeks). So the majority of the time he is pretty aggressive (with the other fish too).

I am awaiting a bigger tank (200 litre) this week and I am going to transfer them to that to see whether it solves it. Otherwise they are going back to the shop.

I suspect a 10 gallon will be a bit small. But I am just a beginner at this so maybe wait for others to reply.

I agree with above poster I think a 10g is too small. i wouldnt chance it as they can be aggressive and therefore need plenty of tank space and plants to be able to avoid each other.
