I just bought a test kit that was suposed to have everything for testing. It does NOT have the test for Nitrates but has for everything else, I think....

I am on a well system so have none of the additives found in city water. The hardness of my water is pretty high though.

My Nitrites are over 5 and I have no Idea what to do about it. I have removed my carbon filters while I am treating for ick. everything else was within Parameters Carb Hardness was a bit high at 7.7 or so but mollies like the 7.5.
Any more Ideas?

Those nitrites are very high. Is your tank still cycling?

Sorry all I had my daughters birthday yesterday evening and been away from the pc all day today.

Yes my tank is still cycling. It is only about 3 weeks old and I was doing too many water changes not giving it time to actually cycle. Believe it or not I found someone that knew something at the semi-lfs. (lol)

Are there any other causes for fin loss that have white spots as a symptom? I lost a sailfin marble mollie this morning. I thought it was ick but only one or two others have even one spot each and they look more like little pieces of styrofoam than the usual slimy ick. I am lost. I have treated for 3 days now and the only change is that all of my mollies are staying in the darkest areas of the tank, close to the heater and only come out to eat but seem to have much less energy. There seems to be no change to the guppies actions or eating behavior.
