Can I Feed My Shrimp Other Foods Other Then Pellets Etc

Well i currently have red cherry shrimp, quite a few to be fair as they seemed to have bred under the wood.

I also have a few neon tetras and zebra danios, and was wondering could i feed them something other then pellets/flake food. Such as cucumber/lettuce and how would i go about doing this if they eat it etc. or do i stick to flake food? Thanks

Also, a variety of leaves can be used which i found out today, such as almond, pear, apple, peach... plenty of them.
