Hi everyone

I've got 5 dwarf puffers in a 40 gallon t planted tank.

This is what else I have in there

2 convicts (breeding pair)
2 neon gouramis
1 polka dot loach
5 neon tetras
1 fantailed guppy
1 pleco
1 b.n catfish
5 ghost shrimps

all seem to be getting on fine, should I expect any trouble in the future?
only had them all together fora couple of weeks

You've been lucky so far.

OK, first of all your fantailed guppy won't be fantailed for very long.. puffers do love to fin-nip. You might find the tetras and gouramis get nipped a bit too.

Secondly, your puffers will love those ghost shrimp. They will have a veritable feast indeed!

The pleco, loach and bristlenose should be fine. Not sure about convicts, but I have a feeling they won't get along.

Sorry, but I don't think things will work out in the long term.

Either the puffers will view some of the fish as food (anything with a long tail will have it trimmed) and will eat any shrimp or your larger fish will harass your puffers which will tick the puffers off, and puffers have very strong jaws with which they will pay back any fish that annoys them.

they haven't been near my shrimps, the shrimps are a hell of a lot bigger than the puffers

do they really eat em?

cheers for the feedback

I have a small Figure 8 puffer about 1/2 to 3/4 inches and i put some ghost shrimp in with him for a snack and he ate them up no problem and most of them were bigger than him

Dwarfs will readily take on anything they perceive as food even if it is much larger than them.

cheers for all the advice guys, looks like I wuz fed duff information by my local aquarium when I bought the puffers. They know wot I have in the tank and told me as long as I keep the puffers well fed I will have no trouble. Looks like I have been had.

Still not had no problems though believe it or not but I am a bit apprehensive now
